It was an unusually busy night at Art Lyberg’s Service Station as young Dave Lyberg and his brother worked frantically to make sure all of their customers were taken care of. You see, they were in charge of the family business that evening as their parents got ready to attend a formal dinner party. However, when their parents stopped by the station on the way out and noticed just how busy it was, they didn’t think twice before jumping in and helping out. 
DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES
“I’ll always remember that night because it taught me just how powerful dedication and personal care can be,” Dave says. “There was my mother, wearing the brand new cape she had saved up for so long to buy, washing windshields. It was a funny sight at the time, but the way she saw it was that if it wasn’t for their happy customers, she wouldn’t have that cape.”
CONTINUING TRADITIONS
Traditions are strong in the Lyberg family, whether it’s hobbies such as cribbage or golf, their unique entrepreneurial spirit or their long-standing connection to the Brighton community. Perhaps the strongest tradition, though, is their commitment to customer service—of doing whatever it takes to make people happy. Raised on a “work hard, play hard” philosophy, Dave spent many an hour working in the family business. It wasn’t always easy, but looking back now, it was a very rewarding experience.
